Who is Buffy?
Buffy Biernesser has a true love for the game of soccer and has played and coached at all levels. She is a Western Pennsylvania native and a pioneer of the women’s soccer movement in the region and throughout the United States.
Buffy owns her own camps and clinics and works as an independent clinician for both goalkeepers and field players. She is passionate about passing on the game she loves to younger players, and enjoys working with all age groups, genders and ability levels.
Buffy holds the highest National
Goalkeeping Diploma from the NSCAA,
a C level license, and is a member of the
United Goalkeeping Alliance.*
Buffy played goalkeeper for Fox Chapel High School, where she was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2004. She was an ALL-WPIAL selection in 1986 in 1987
as well as the team captain for 1987.
Buffy was the FIRST female goalkeeper to make the Eastern Regional ODP Team
for the US Women’s National Team
Program in 1985 and 1986.
She loved her experience with the Regional Team and National Team Program and is very proud of how far the women’s program has evolved.
After high school, Buffy continued her career at Bethany College, where she
served as an all-conference player and team captain for two of her years.
After college, Buffy served as the Region 1 GK assistant coach for the Olympic Development Team.
She is an active coach and clinician working with individuals, local colleges, high school teams, classically organizations, and ODP programs. Several of the players Buffy has coached have gone on to play in nationally recognized Division 1, 2 and 3 programs.
Buffy led the Lady Hillers at Trinity High School from
1993-2005 and is the longest serving and winning
female coach in Washington County soccer history
to date. Buffy was also a decorated coach for the
Victory Soccer Club during those same years.
She served as the Beadling Soccer Club Director of
Goalkeeping from 2009 to 2018 and returned a second
time as director from 2020-2022. She is now the
Director of Goalkeeping for the Victory Soccer Club.

The United Goalkeeping Alliance is a network of GK Coaches with agreed upon goals of educating generations of Goalkeepers. They aim to provide a culture of guidance through collaboration, participation, and ideation. Collaboration comes from their training plans, video analysis, presentations, Q&A and other means of education. Each month, a group of United Goalkeeping Alliance Coaches will coach, facilitate, and educate based on assigned goalkeeper topics. Their goal is to further develop every aspect of goalkeeping for participating coaches, GKs, and parents alike.
